Beowulf (and Grendel) in New York

Blogging from Upstate New York (on a short stop to visit family for the fourth before heading back to the City) -- however, I've found an internet connection, and in my inbox this morning was some fabulous news. I posted awhile back about how Beowulf and Grendel was finally being released in the United States. Well, as it turns out, it's now coming to New York City!!

So, for all those other New York fans of Hygelac's boldest retainer -- mark your calendars! It opens at the Quad Cinema on July 7th! And for those of you who aren't in the big city, you can find out if it will be playing in your area by going to the official movie website.

Did you watch the trailer? Did you giggle at the Scottish accents?

I'll try to see it when it comes to LA, but I've got my worries.

I did indeed watch the trailer. I giggled more at the "I'm Beowulf." And...well, I hate to admit it, but I definitely laughed at the beards. Not sure why. Maybe the article that talked about them just made me overly sensitive.

I'm worried -- but I'm also morbidly curious. Who knows -- it could be decent. I'll see it a week from tonight, so I'll let everyone know once I do!

I hope it's still in the theaters by the time I return from Tejas. Do you think it'll make it a month? Looks pretty bad. I do like Gerard Butler though...

Don't know -- but if it is, and it isn't too ungodly awful, I'll see it again with you. It'll help me get over my Johnny Depp high (ahhh, Pirates).

I watched "Reign of Fire" yesterday, which featured none other than Gerard Butler! Þæt wæs god cyning!

He's been in a lot of movies about the Middle Ages (ok, no clue if Reign of Fire has anything to do with medieval dragons but...dragons are so medieval. Unless they're in Harry Potter). He was in the much maligned Timeline, too. Unless I'm very mistaken.

Of course you're not mistaken. You love that movie! Paul Walker!! It's okay. I love The Fast and the Furious :)

Btw, Reign of Fire is awesome (in a very embarrassing, Timeline sort of way)!
